Homework #5

This week you are going to look at last weeks blog assignment. I want you to look at three of the posts on the blog. Read the articles and the comments posted by your classmates. Respond with at least 8 sentences on what you read. Do you think your classmates picked good articles? Which article was your favorite? etc...

Due Friday October 16.

58 comments:

  1. One article I read was about internet addiction and that some teens have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. People that have this disorder tend to go to their computer as a form of therapy and for comfort. I also read about four murders in Virginia; the killer was a guy who wrote songs about killing people which fell under the genre of "horrorcore." Song artists usually compose their songs from their life experiences and feelings. This murderer's music consisted of tearing the human flesh into bits and pieces. A man who would compose of such a thing would be a gruesome murderer himself. Another article I read talked about a pill called Plan B that would be able to help prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation. Plan B would prevent pregnancy but it would also encourage intercourse. Teens would think that they won't need to be worried about getting pregnant but that they can just get a pill and everything will be okay. The FDA has now approved of the pill to be obtained by women of the age of 17 or older without a prescription.

I don't really have a favorite article, but I think that my classmates have picked very interesting articles. They inform us about what's going on in society and even help us to live better lives. All the murders that occur remind us to be cautious and to avoid places that danger may be.

  2. The article that Kirnisha picked was touching because all those people lost their lives without warning. People getting sucked into the earth, that's not normal so it's really sad. Then she put that the officials said the quakes will double so thats even worse for the people in Indonesia. I love Juicey's!!!!!!! Its absolutly correct. The black on black crime is embarrassing. Just like she said, the generational curse needs to be broken. The murders are becoming really bad with black on black violence. I just wish it could stop because its making us black people really look bad. Ashley's is great. They should have asked the 8 year old questions like she said because neighbors said that he was getting abused so 9 chances out of 10 it probably was out of self defense so they need to give lil man a chance.

These three people picked good, interesting articles and honestly, i have no favorite.

  3. i read some articles that touched on my subject from last blog post. With the war in iraq america needs to make a bold choice.Either pull out from iraq now,or stay and risk loosing more lives and money to go to more important things.Another article that piqed my intrest was one about murder statistics with blacks and other general crime. Some people seem to think that there is a serious problem on there hands, but i see a simple way to stop it.All you need to do is reach out,and find what is going on.Social security was also an intresting subject. In my opinion,i think that noone should have a problem getting social security. No matter what is on there record.

my favorite overal waould be the post about the u.s and iraq.

  4. Many of these articles were based on either government actions, natural disasters, health, or crimes. One of the articles that I read was "Man Guilty of Murdering Georgia Boy in Trailer Park," which was about a family who molests the youngest member in their family, chokes him to death, puts him in a trash bag, and throws him out near a road. The father has been found guilty of his actions, but they are still pending on his sentence, which is either death or life in prison. Another article that I was interested in was "Gasps as Obama Awarded Nobel Peace Prize." This article caught my attention because during the weekend, I wanted to learn more about why Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize; he won the award because "the judges found his promise of disarmament and diplomacy too good to ignore." Many argued that it was too soon for Obama to win such a prize, but I think it's cool that he's giving his award money to charity! I also read about an earthquake that caused landslides in Indonesia. The title of the article was "Village Deaths to Increase Indonesia Quake Toll." Many people died during this disaster, and there were few survivors who told personal accounts of what they were doing at the time. People were also sad because of their family and property losses.

My classmates picked interesting articles to read, although some of them didn't really catch my eye. I'd have to say that out of those three articles, my favorite was the one about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize because I was anticipating all weekend to read about it, but I always forgot, and to actually find out the reason he won really made me feel satisfied. I think he deserved it, and from this article, I also learned that the prize was given out by a five-member committee appointed by the Norwegian Parliament. Go Obama for promoting peace! . . . I think.

  5. The article that I read was about a dangerous landslide in Padang, Indonesia that was caused by a earthquake. Many people died and many villages were destroyed. People who were alive were buried under so deep that the rescue workers couldn’t find them. Those who weren’t in neither of these positions were in better shape, but had no food, clean water, and wasn’t in contact with rescue workers for many days after. I think most of my classmates picked really good articles. The article that I was most interested in was the one about youth violence “Student beating death ‘a wake-up call’”.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I pick the articles that Sadia,Lacy, and Tyriel posted. Sadia article was about an 16 year old honor student name Albert who was beat to death after being caught up in a mob of teens fighting in the Chicago area. Chicago Attorney General Eric Holder says it was a "stark wake-up call" for the nation to just be confronting teen violence not alone in Chicago but all around for them to hear about a child dieing for them to really talk about it. Lacy article was about President Obama coming to New Orleans to see how recovery has been over the last four years he will be making his way down October 15 the articles says that Obama vist will be much appreciate by the people like one man in the article. Vitter says that he urge in the most respect that his vist will ensure several important sites that the President would love to see that is coming to life as the recovery is still going on. Tyriel article was about babies being born to childhood cancer survivors the article say that babies that are born will not face increase rates of birth defects but would have premature or babies that weigh less ponds them normally woman with out cancer. But it also says that some babies who are born might suffer from malformations or die and which puts the mothers at greater risk for pregnancy complications and the study shows that men with childhood cancer found there offsprings were slighty more likely to be of low birth weight and was not a greater risk for birth defects or premature then they were for woman.

I think my classmates pick good article because they talk about things that people should be inform on and tell some new things you can find out that is going on around the world just by looking and having a good perspective on it. I do not think I have a favorite but all of them was very interesting to read and to no new things on.

  7. The first article that i picked that caught my attention was posted by Juicey with the black on black crime. I feel that African Americans have came to far to be going against one another. The next article that caught my attention was the one about the 92 year old woman takin a 13000 foot plunge from an airplane. Not too many 92 year old women can take a plunge that is that big. The next article that caught my attention was posted by Dana about our soldiers in Iraq. I personally think that our soldiers should be brought back home. Yes, i do think that my classmates did a good job on picking out articles. No, i dont really have a favorite article, they all were good!

  8. I picked Malcom, Kirnisha, and Cindy's articles. Malcoms article was about the war in Iraq, it was very intersting and I was amazed how much money the U.S. spends on that war. Which does not make any sens at all. Kirnishas article was about a quake who killed a lot of people at a wedding ceremony. That made me feel sad for those people who were having a lot of fun and suddenly there just under the ground. Cindy's article was on a family who killed thier six year old son and threw him away. That was pure evil by the family I could not believe how far humans will go with violence in the world. That article made me feel bad. I read other articles also like Taylors was very interesting about the money that is spended for NASA.

  9. The article that I read was about earthquakes. The article said that four major earthquakes hit the South Pacific Ocean near a nation called Vanuatu. The earthquakes was part of a series of 16 moderate to major quakes. The earthquakes rattified regions over the same time period. The first three major quakes struck Vanuatu in 70-minutes beginning at 9:03 a.m. (6:03 p.m. ET Wednesday). Hawaii had this center called The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center helps them track down nearby Tsunamis and earthquakes. It also watch for parts of the Pacific near the first earthquake's epicenter. I chosed this article because it shows me how often earthquakes hit and how people from Vanuatu learn how to be prepared.

  10. One article I read was about a 6 year old boy being brutally murdered. He was found on the side of the road wrapped in trash bags. His parents molested him, then killed him afterwards in their mobile home. I also read an article about a man who took the lyrics to a song too seriously and killed a whole family. The genre, horrorcore, is all based on killing people or hurting others. Richard Samuel McCroskey, the horrorcore murderer was also an underground horrorcore rapper. He sung about chopping people to pieces, and felt no remorse to the murder of the family. Another article I read was about President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Before reading the article, I didn't think President Obama deserved to get the Prize so early. But he actually does deserve it. The article stated that, President Obama is working on ending the war in Iraq and is planning on giving his prize money to charity. He really is an inspiration to us all.

I don't think I have a favorite article. But out of the three I wrote about, I'd have to say the murder of the 6 year old. I can't believe anyone would want to hurt their own child in such a way. It's disgusting.

  11. My Articles Consisted Of Juicy,Malcom, And Cidney's Articles. All Of these Articles Caught my Eye Because You Would Never Think That The United States Would Spend So Much Money On A War, And We Are Going Down In Our Stocks And So Is Our Econmy. You Wouldnt Also Think That Cindy's Article Was Interesting. What Has The child Done That Makes Someone Want to Rape Him and The Beat him, and then throw him on side of the road. Im Really Sure That The Child Didnt Ask To Be Here. And He Was In His Pre- Stages of Life. He Didnt Even Get To Reach His Teens Yet. And What Makes Me Upset The Most Is That When You Question The People Who Have Commited The Crime, They Come Up With A Really Lame Reason On Why They Killed The Child. Ehh. Needless to Say Another Article Was Juicey. This Article Is So Right. Black on Black Crime Doesnt Make Any Sence What So Ever. We As A People Have To Think Beyond Us Hating One Another We Have To Think About Where We Came From, And How Far We Have Come. My Favorite Article Was Cindy.

  12. I think that Cindy's article was touching. The article was about an Georgia man was guilty of murder and molestation in the death of a 6-year-old boy ,then was later found in wrapped trash bags and dumped near a road. Then his mother and his brother was charge for killing him too. He was wrong for killing this child. He need to be in the electric chair than life in prison because him, his mother, and brother was all in this. When they was in court, the mother that her husband done nothing wrong and was even occured during the murder.

  13. The One Jamesha Posted Kinda caught my attention about the Drug Abuse, because i feel that the article is important. Drugs take over your brain & becomes very powerful. Most young men & women feel the need to do drugs to ease thier mind, relieve their stress in ways or just because their under the influebnce some of them say they be on "Cluod 9, like yeahh"! lol. But anyways, some people be drug addicted and dont even know it. But whatever whatever.. i dont know what else to say.. HEEEY MS. VEGAA BBY* : )

  14. One of the articles I read was about a man who was arrested for some slayings in a small town. Turns out he is into the music 'horrorcore' which are songs with lyrics of chopping people into pieces and he took them too seriously. Another article was about an honor student killed in a school fight. It's sad becaue he was a student with a very bright future who died of something as stupid as a school fight. The third article I read was about babies who are born from childhood cancer survivors are not in any great risk of being deformed or have any defects.
Everybody picked eh interesting articles but I don't think I have a favorite.

  15. I read an article about aa family molested a 6 year old kid. After that they choked him to death and threw his body in a tras bag on the street. I couldnt beleive this i mean the boy was only 6 years old. People just dont care anymore . It really is sad think if that was your little brother or your kid why would somebody do something so ignorant.
i also read an article about an earthquake that killed many people. i thought it was really sad. People were just minding their buisness and then out of nowhere something that they can not stop kills them. Its not fair to many people. today people are dying left to right. by things we cant control like the earthquake, but many of the things people die from we can control.
the third article i read was a 20 year old man that was suspected of 5 murders. they say he was just listening to music that talked about killing people, so he decides to go kill someone. thats jus really stupid if you wanna know the truth. yeah i know a lot of people that listen to rappers that talk about killing, but they dont go out killing someone just because they heard it in a song.

  16. every one choose great articles I choose Cindy,Oricine, and Jenny T. Nguyen the one i like most was cindy and jenny cuz theirs was the most touching especcially about the 6 year old boy malested by his family killed the throwed on the side of the road like trash horrible plus the one with the pill for girls dat wont get pregnate or wont have the kid its the day after pill i think it still abortion cuz its still a baby in thier but its a good thing to have then having young teens have the baby and then killing the poor child when it dont have to be that way so thats why this pill and article is so good this is what i choose.

  17. I read about how an earth quake killed more than 600 people. It is so difficult to read it and keep a straight face when you realize that this occurred during a wedding. Another thing I read was how flooding in India killed roughly 270 people, and caused millions to flee their homes. It's really sad how natural events have such strong impacts on people. One other article I read was about how internet addiction can cause ADD and lead to depression. I liked this article because for a period of time in my lifetime, I went through the same problem. I would find my favorite article the internet addiction article, because it relates to me in a faint way, and it gives useful advice. Overall all the articles were really interesting and it was hard to pick just three interesting articles.

  18. Since I'm not really into politics, the articles that interested me the most were the crime and health articles. I read through a few articles and the one that appealed to me the most was the article about the man that killed four people because the music he listened to was 'horrorcore'. 'Horrorcore' is a small genre of music where the lyrics describe killing and murdering people. I don't get how some people in this world can be so gruesome. He's responsible for killing for lives. And he "ripped them and tore them to pieces"? That's unimaginable. The man claimed that Jesus told him to do it. I think that's absurd. Did he mean Jesus or Satan?
Another article that interested me was, 'Man guilty of murdering Ga. boy in trailer park'. I cannot even describe how disgusted I am with people like this. The man molested the little boy and then choked him to death with the help of this father and mother. The boys body was later found in trash bags near the road. People are seriously going mad these days. I sure hope he gets the death sentence for this one..
The last article I read was the one about the pumpkin contest. I thought that article was cute and also astonishing! I liked this article because it's out of the ordinary and unique. A small town teacher from Ohio grew an almost 1,725 pound pumpkin. I didn't know something like that was even possible! She won $2,500 in prize money and claimed the world title. That's awesome. :]

Overall, I think a vast amount of my classmates picked interesting articles. Some were just more entertaining than others. I would have to say that the pumpkin contest article was my favorite since it was actually the only one that made me smile!

  19. I read some really interesting articles, but the ones I think were the most interesting was the one about drug addiction, the flood in India, and the one about the teacher who won a pumpkin contest. First, the one about drug addiction informed me about drugs. It says that drug addiction is a brain disease that make you want more drugs. This is kind of sad because drugs ruin people's lives and once you're addicted, nothing's going to be the same. I know someone who is a drug addict and his life used to be normal, but now he acts as if he were a zombie. The article about the flood also caught my attention. 270 innocent people died and that is pretty sad. It is interesting how nature can be so random sometimes. If only we can predict these sort of disasters, many of them would have survived. Finally, the article that I thought was an interesting read was the one about the teacher that won a pumpkin contest. She grew a pumpkin 1700+ pounds and won $2500 in a pumpkin contest. It's awesome that the teacher won money by growing a pumpkin. She can probably make a giant jack-o-lantern with that pumpkin when Holloween comes.

  20. Some blogs that I read really caught my I,but the three I picked came from Oriechan,Cindy, and Jenny. The first blog I read was drug abuse by Oriechan.Drug abuse is really popular these days.Alot of teens have drug problems and are addicted.I think it is caused by pure pressure. It needs to stop.Another blog was about child molestation with a 6 year old boy,I think no one should be put through this situation. The last article I read was from Jenny.Internet addiction is also common, like she said people go to their computers to help with their problems and feel the need to always be on the internet.People has this addiction and doesnt notice it.

  21. I read some interesting articles, but I picked the articles about a 20 year old man from Virginia killing people from music, a teacher in Ohio growing a 1, 725 pound pumpkin, and internet addiction linking to the depression in teens. The first article is about a man who listens to a genre of music called, "Horrorcore." It talks about chopping people up in pieces, and after listening, he goes out and kills a whole family and is sentenced to jail. He says that Jesus told him to do so, but I think it's just the horrorcore lyrics getting to his head. The second article is about a teacher who grew a 1, 725 pound pumpkin and entered it into a contest. She won $2,500 from the contest and will probably claim the world title of having a big pumpkin. How is it possible to even grow a pumpkin so big? Or at least growing it past 50 pounds without it dying? The last article is about how internet addiction is linked to teen depression. Teens are who are depressed, have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It also lists what adults can do to help teens or prevent their children from being so addicted to the internet. My favorite article was the one about the 20 year old listening to Horrorcore and killing people. It isn't my favorite because of how gruesome it is, but it really opens our eyes to what we're listening to. Why would people follow what a song says? Music is suppose to inspire, but not in such a way that would make people think that killing people is fine.

  22. I picked the article Kirnisha posted because it made me want to read and know more about the devistation in Indonesia.More than 1,300 people were presumed dead and 3,000 were reported missing.
A 15 year old boy,Iseh, told reporters that 200 to 300 people were buried alive at his sisters wedding party, includig her.He said he heard the booom of the avalanche and saw the landslides begin all around him.
Out of all the devistation, though, the rest of the world hass made contributions to Indonesia. The U.S.,Russia,and Australia have sent planes with food and water.Japan,Switzerland,South Korea, and Malaysia have sent rescue teams to aid in the searchs.
I would have to that this is my favorite article because this is a current event that I had no knowledge of.And by reading this article I willl make a donation to the charity fund my school has started for the people of Indonesia.

  23. One article I read is what Oriechan posted. This article was about drug abuse and addiction. One thing I learned is that drug addiction is a brain disease. It also pointed out that many my think that stopping drug abuse is easy as willpower but its not, its much more deeper than that. The article went on to talk about the challenges and some way that can help drug abuser to stop abusing drug. But they also said even after they stop using drug the addition to drugs can relapse.

Another article I read was posed by Ashley about an 8 year old boy who called his father and his father’s roommate. I really don’t know what to think, was it self-defense are did he just kill his father and his roommate. If he was using it as self-defense then it on okay to a point. They have many comments on what the family said about the boy’s father doing the best could raise him but they never know what’s going on in their household because they’re not there. Also they questioned the boy with representation and feel that just because he is 8 he have the same rights as others and they did give him the choose.

I also picked Taylor’s article. The reason I picked this is because that is one of the most dumbest thing people can do. Crushing a spacecraft into the moon just to find out if it have or had ice or water. When if they would just stop and read the Bible were it says that the sun and the moon are luminaries. Luminaries meaning light, what light you know of to have water are ice in it? Then they are going to crush this spacecraft into the moon not knowing what the effects are. This had to be my favorite to read about.

  24. The three people articles I pick was Sadia, Lacy, and Christopher because not everyday you hear a 16 year old honor student get beaten to death just from walking home after school for no reasons at all. We have a good President that will be coming down to New Orleans to see how we recover that's what Lacy Article is about. Christopher article is about the President winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his attempts to nullify the increase of nuclear arms, and mitigate the intense tensions between the Muslim world.

But overall I like Sadia article the best because that's not right. Only walking home from school don't know what's going to happen not knowing if you gone die that day or live to see the next.

  25. One article I was drawn to was an article about addictions. It explains what addictions are and how hard they are to cope with. Another article that caught my attention was about a little boy that was molested and murdered by his mother, brother, and another man. It was heartbreaking to hear a story like this, the boy was only 6 and didn't get a chance to live his life. Another article that caught my attention was about a 16 year old that was beaten to death at school. This was also a sad story. I think there were a lot of good articles on the blog. I have no favorite article;so many of them were good.

  26. The three comments I read about the articles were very interesting yet touching. Well I choose one article from another class and it was a horrible experience. It was about quakes that sucked people into earth. Many people lost their lives.Another article that I found interesting was about the honor student being beaten to death. I think that was horrible and would like for the police to investgate more. I think there's more to the story. Last but not least I read about Obama winning the Noble Peace Prize. I love Obama. He has accomplish ao much in so little time.

My favorite article out of the three was about the boy that got beaten. I find this article very interesting because I am a sixteen year old myself. I think thats there more to the story that the media is hidding. I don't think the boy was just beaten for no reason!!

  27. After I read a few articles I found one that caught my intrest. The article on the earthquake that Kirnisha posted touched my heart in a bad way. I live in a region where if an earthquake was to hit it would be the most rare case of devastions in the world. I feel for the families in the article it said over 400 prople were killed in the horrific earhquake. To read how people were sucked into the earth's core was very devastating.

    ReplyDelete
  28. One of the articles I read was d.johnson#99's comment on Cindy's article. It's sad to know of someone being accused of something that they didn't do, even if it is one of their close relatives. I think that everyone has the right, in court, to be guilty or innocent of something. I would agree that he'll need to be in the electric chair instead of life, even though both ways you die, for some states do that on account of what crime was done. The second artile was Dana's comment on the pill for girls. I don't believe in abortion because it's just like killing a young child; thy're still a living organism/human, but not fully developed yet. My third article was Cindy's comment on an honor student that dies in a stupid event such as a school fight. Even though he was an honor student, you'll still have to be smart to not get into activities that may not be "worth it". The article that was most interesting would have to be Dana's comment on the pill for girls that don't want to get pregnate.

  29. I read a few good articles out there, and to be honest most of them were pretty good. I mean almost everyone chose an article about politics and goverment. And up until now, i was never really intrested in that stuff. But now its starting to make scence to be informed about the world around me, espacailly now with the new presidency, and the recetion and all that, its almost as if were witnessing a part of history.

  30. The 3 articles that I thought were interesting were cash for clunkers, internet addiction in teens, and Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize.Cash for clunkers article reads that if your car has 18 miles you can trade in your car for a slightly newer one. Which I think is completely bogus cause not everyone has a car.Internet addiction in teens is another fascinating article, kids do spend to much time online instead of doing everyday simple things. This can cause ADHD or depression. I think many people turn to their computers for comfort.Lastly, Pres. Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in the Middle East. Personally to me, this is awesome to have a president win a special award whose only been in office for 10 months. All of my classmates articles were enjoyable to read, but these three caught my attention the most. For they problems and events we see in our every day lives.

  31. The first article that caugh my attention was from Juicey. The black on Black crime is not right, we should be fight for our rights not each other. the second article was Sadia's article. that was soo touching. It make me think twice about doing anything alone expecially walking by myself. The third article was Orechian article. Drug abuse is very popular today. they dnt kno how bad it could hurt them in the long run, and i would encourage teens not to do it.

  32. Yes , i think my classmates picked good articles but my most favorite one was jennifer's article , I read the one where she mention about teens having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder . I believe that its true , because i've seen many people like that . They go into depression , act out , and some are suicidal . Its really a growing problem in our generation to see so many teens killing each other when they dont have anyone to explain to them how improtant life really is . They're is a cure for A.D.H.D but it results in our teens getting hooked on pills . I just hope our generation can one day realize how important life is !

  33. The three articles I read about was on the earthquake, drug abuse, & the child molestation. The first article on the earthquake was very moving to me because I thought it was sad that it happened and especially on someone's wedding day. That made it more sad because that's suppose to be a day filled with happiness but instead turned sour. The second article was on the drug abuse and how it isn't as easy as it looks to fully stop using drugs if you became an addict. The addiction sometimes can not be over turned by a strong will power because it is more based on the brain. Finally, the last article I read was most touching. It was so cruel that those people did that to the poor little boy. I can not believe how sick those people can be! It is disgusting and I really do not understand how people can live with themselves knowing that they have done that to a poor little boy. I honestly do not believe that anyone deserves that. Within the three articles that I read, i didn't like any of them. It's not that they were not good, its just that the information I read was disturbing. I think that my classmates chose some really interesting articles.

  34. There were alot of good articles on here but the ones I liked the most was the earthquake in Indonesia, the six year old boy being molested and killed, and the horrorcore rapper who murdered the whole family. The one I most interested in and shocked me the most was the one with the six year old boy. That was wrong what those people did to him, the little boy did not deserve to be molested or to die. But thats life, knowing they have sick people out there and knowing things can happen unexpectly. I like the earthquake article because it was another interesting article. I think its sad that something bad happened to all those people. Like 644 of them were buried,1,300 of them died and i think about 3,000 are missing and its all because of an earthquake. I chose the horrorcore story because thats the one that caught my attention while doing the assignment. That was the most disturbing thing ever, people being slaughtered. I think its so messed up that he slaughtered the whole family, in a whole other state from him. And it was people he never met in his lifejust a girl he met over the computer. He killed those people for no reason. These articles that I chose shows and prove how sick people really are and that these things are real.

  35. The three blogs that caught my attention was from Kirnisha,Oriechan, and from Juicey. The topic they chosed was very interesting. The article that I favored was the article kirnisha picked which was about an earth quake that happened in Indonesia. I think that it is very heart breaking that an earth quake happend and 600 people were buried alive and during the earth quake people were attending a wedding and instead of being at the wedding they were stuck 100 feet into earth. Now and days too much people are dying due to violence and natural diasters.I hope that Indonesia recieve fast recovery.
Another topic that caught my eye was the topic that Oriechan chosed which was about drug abuse and drug addiction I think that too many teenagers are doing drugs for no reason at all some just take it for fun, what they dont know is how its going to hurt them in the long run and how easily they can die from it.
Another topic I found interesing was the topic that juicy chose which was about I think that they was very childish of them to have a gang fight i think they are old enough to know that fighting is stupid and they should know right from wrong. I watched the viedo and I think that they should know that beating somebody with a big long stick somebody was going to get hurt and end up hospitalize or dead.

  36. I have read several articles although these articles were very different I most liked Oriechan's article. Her article talked about drug abusers. It aslo talked about how drug abusers are told that they can't stop using drugs but this was known to be that they could. The abuse of drugs is only a brain thing and its whether you are willing to change are not.Now the other articles I have read were talking about how the gorvenment were giving people money for their old cars to buy new cars. The last article I read was about an 8 year old and how he killed his father and his father roomates. He was later charged has a juvenile with 2 accounts of murder. But the neighbors argued that he had been abused to the court. They said that the boy was using self defense to protect himself.

  38. I Actually saw only 2 that caught my attention.. Sadia's and kirnisha's article.

Sadia's because it ridiciulous what its come to an innocent boy cant even walk home now. All these kids who think their so bad needa sent to place where all the people think just like them.. JAIL! lock them up for a week and i bet they wont stay the same. i bet this kid had a good life planned ahead of him. and he'll never know now! And what really gets me mad is the one's who follow others like that makes you look any better. their only gonna bring you down in the end, and then its you who will be suffering while the one whose really trouble is still out there causing more trouble with someone else who will follow them because i can bet he isnt even worried about you bein jail!

& Kirnisha's because that was really sad it was suppose dot be a happy day for a couple. and they couldnt even share it the right way. All the lost family members. its just really sad!

  39. The first article that I read was by Shae and it was about a dangerous landslide in Padang, Indonesia. I found that interesting because in Louisiana unless you are assigned to look up something about History, Indonesia isn't a country that I would be intersted in. Since I have read about it , I found Indonesia and the things they go through more interesting. The next article I read about was by Jacquel on Black on Black crime. Now that was interesting because that's something I talk about everyday. We have so many natural causes and diseases to wipe out the whole world and some people choose to do things the harder way, etc. The last article was by Dana on war in Iraq, which was the most popular article to write about. There was actually the majority of students did their article on that subject, I was included one of them!!!!!

  40. I liked the articles JaMesha, Cindy, and Kentrice. JaMesha's article was talking about how Obama gathered doctors together and talked about the health plan he was trying to get off the ground. Cindy's article was very shocking because a 6 year old boy was horribly abused and killed. People are so cold in this world. Kentrice's article was interesting because this article talked about how a murder's death sentence was delayed because the vein's of the killer weren't suitable for the killer. If it kills you it kills you.

  42. The article I pick was Sadia's.It was sad what happen to Derrion Albert. He got beaten to death near Fenger High School. He was a good person and he didn't deserve that. Derrion was a honor student and he would have a scholarship to go to college.

  43. I've read the articles Jenny T., Cindy, and Luan chose. J.T.'s article caught my attention because this is my first time hearing about the Plan B pill or should i say "morning after pill." It's like wow the morning after, really. Making this pill an over-the-counter pill only makes more teens want to engage in more sexual activity. Cindy chose an article about a six year old being molested and murdered. Who in their right mind would do this to a kindergartner? What did he ever do to you? Overall the 'horrorcore' article truly upset me. Sure you killed someone and a couple of others. Let it go, your a criminal we know, your crazy we know, your a sick dude we know. But composing songs about it is what really topped it off. The killing blew my mind especially since it was so gruesume that the police couldn't describe the scene, but my mind exploded after I read that he rapped about what he had done. You have all these people who are thinking hey its just a song, while they are just going over your sick plan of killing someone then getting rid of the bodies.

  44. First off I want to say that every article I'm going to list is my fav{i call it my fav five l0l}because they all were very interesting, eye catching & true.

Keyera's was very interesting. It caught my eye because I felt that it was so trifling, idiotic, filthy & plain disgusting. For Someone who specializes in sterilizing equipment, very knowledgeable & aware that the hospital is full of sickly persons & airborne diseases and such. It's so nerve wrecking to even phathon that almost 1800 people were exposed to deadly diseases by this idiotic nurse reusing syringes on her patients.

Jenny with the (ADHD). This disorder causes kids to act out, become depressed, violent, or even suicidal. With the medication some are forced to take others voluntarily, In the near future can cause some to become drug addicted by being so reliant on their medication, thinking that they need it to behave in some cases or to even feel better.

Thania with the suspect terrorist, Danelia with teenage pregnancy & of course mine{l0l} thanks to everyone who liked it!
All the article I read & listed were very good!

  46. The article about the 6 year old boy who was raped and choked to death and thrown into a trash bag along a road was a good article because his body was found and whoever was looking for him now has closure. I may not be a parent but I do know that is something not any parent would want to undergo. The article about heavy rain that flooded India and killed 270 people and put a million out of homes reminded me of the tsunami in Asia. It seems as it Asia is getting the shorter side of the stick Devastation is happening all around me whether it’s nature or because of humanity. The tragedy about an 8 year old boy, who killed his father and is roommate and charged of 2 counts of murder, would be the most interesting to me. All of these articles are negative but a child that responds to murdering his own father and roommate as “self defense” stated by neighbors, then he was indeed living a hard know life. There wasn’t many positive articles to choose from that caught my interest, but then again if it were positive, we as people wouldn’t pay much attention to it.

  47. Well after reading and skimming many articles I only seemed to find one that really touched me. That was the article about the 6 year old boy being killed. The article really knew how to grab your attention and get your to care about what happened. It put you in the place of the parent and made you feel how they might have felt. This was definatly a great article to pick because it made you care about everything that was happening to not only the child but the parents of the child.

  48. The three articles that caught my attention were Kirnisha's, Cindy's, and Oriechan's. Kirnisha's article talked about an earthquake in Indonesia and how all those people lost their lives. Cindy's article talked about a six year old boy who was molested, killed, put in trash bags, and tossed on the side of the road. Oriechan's article was about drug abusers and drug addicts. I think my classmmates picked good articles. They were very diversed and shared alot of important information that you would never know was going on in the world.
I would have to say the article that was most interesting was Cindy's article. I think that was a horrible thing to do to such a young boy or anyone at all. I can't see how people can be so cruel and sick that molesting a child helps them. I think it is so disgusting for a person to do such a thing like that to people. Like Cindy said it makes me sad and frustrated also.

    Education Reform Plan
    Ohio governor delays execution

i choose these three articles because they were interesting and very relavent to today's society. the one i mainly enjoyed was warren's article about the Education Reform Plan. the subjects talked about were longer school, year round school and longer ACT time. i agree with all but one of those, longer scool days, i feel that seven hours in school each day is enough schooling each day. yr round school can be benefical to younger grade lvls because it helps them maintain a stong mind and makes it less possible for them to forget what they've learned. i strongly agree with the concept of having more time t complete the ACT. that one test can't determine which college a student gets into. some students don't score well on standarize test, no matter how many times they take it. especially with the time given to complete the test. overall, i believe the article was great and warren did an outstanding job at choosing it.

  50. Many of these articles caught my attendtion, but the ones about a 6 year old boy getting molesting and killed by a family, internet addiction leads to ADHD, and if the United States will ever declare war towards Iraq. The first one surpised me because it was sad how a family would moleste and kill a little boy and why did they do it? I am sad to hear that many americans as of today have been murded and killed for no reasons. In the Second article i belive that it may lead to ADHD because as more teens spend their time on the internet the more addicted they will become as well as the need to go on. I think this is'nt as bad as in China and Japan. finally I belive that we will never declare wat upon Iraq unless they attack us because every day as we send soilders to Iraq to fight, we lose more and more love ones. I belive we should'nt send more troops to Iraq unless they attack us.

  51. There were three articles caught my eye, the three were articles picked by Cindy, Sadia, and Kayla. Cindy’s article was about a man murdering a 6-year-old boy in Georgia. In addition, the man confessed to the murder on tape stating that his wife and grown son took part in the molesting, beating, and murdering of the young boy. Sadia’s article was about a 16-year-old boy that was beaten in Chicago. He was in the milled of a gang fight and he was a regular honor student. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The other article that caught my eye was the article picked by Kayla. Kayla’s article was about President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I am extremely proud of him and I hope he keep up the good work. My favorite article was the one about President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. He has accomplished so much in his life and I think this is a great accomplishment he can add to the others and I know there will be many more to come.

  52. I read an article about earthquakes. Hawaii natives titled this as The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center helps them track down nearby Tsunamis and earthquakes. It also watch for parts of the Pacific near the first earthquake's epicenter. I chose this article because it shows me how often earthquakes hit and how people from Vanuatu learn how to be prepared.

I also read about the nurse reusing unsterylized needles...(you iz nasty!!!) lol.
situations like that make u wanna do it yourself to avoid risk, yknow? it's sad because those people could've gotten sick from each other. and if ur a nurse with a good job & benefits, why would you throw it away like that?..idiot, gosh!

i read about the 92 year old broad jumping out of a plane. in my opinion its a little late to be trying to live it up. could you imagine it bein hot as cheese outside until you get some shade. then you look up and its somebody's granny parachuting theirself with their own wrinkles. ridiculous.

  53. p.s. hey Ms.Vega i think everybody did a good job on their articles but needed a little more details then what they put to state their opinions but the article about the little boy who was raped and then got his life took AWAY was very touching it hurts me to know that someone took advantage of another person and even taken someone life away is WRONG this world isn't perfect but at least let someone live to experience it. I enjoyed reading the article SO I MUST SAY CINDY ARTICLE WAS MY FAVORITE. she picked a great article.

  54. I think most of my classmates picked some interesting articles. Out of all of them though, the three I picked were: The pumpkin contest, the Plan B pill being availible for girls 17 and older, and the boy who got beaten to death.
I found the pumpkin contest intriguing because of the fact that it was so big. It was 1725 pounds. Maybe she mutated the thing or something. A pumpkin like that has to be impossible. She ended up winning $2500 and may win the world title.
The Plan B article is an interesting article because it is helpful to sexually active teen girls. Plan B started out only availible to women 18 and older. But recently they decreased the age by 1 year. Now, 17 year olds can actually buy the pill. This pill can prevent your chances of being pregnant when you take it the day after intercourse. This is a way of preventing abortion.
The last article I read was about a 16 year old honor student who got beaten to death in a fight that he wasn't even involved in. Violence in school these days has been problems. But I can't imagine it being to the point where someone dies. I think it's sad how he didn't have anything to do with it, but he was the one who ended up dying. He had his whole life ahead of him and that's devastating.

  55. The first article that I read is about a man who raped and murdered a 6-year-old boy, and later found guilty of murder and child molestation. The boy was found wrapped in a trash bag near a road. The man admitted that he did it and says that he should receive punishment for the crime. His wife and grown son have been charged for molesting and killing the boy, too. The second article that I read is about floods caused by torrential rains in India. There are over 270 people killed, 450,000 people are put in relief camps, 3 people were struck by lightning, and about a million people fled their homes. There are thousands of people die during seasonal monsoon rains each year in India. The third article that I read is about an eight-year-old boy who killed his father and his father's roommate. Friends and neighbors said that the boy has been abused, but there was no record of any complaints filed about the child in Arizona Child Protective Services. There was also no disciplinary record found in the boy's school. Police says that the boy planned out the killings. A gag order was called on this trial.

My favorite article is the one about an eight-year-old boy who killed his father and his father's roommate. This article is my favorite because it caught my attention the most. Anyway, I was shocked when I read this story. Why would an eight-year-old boy wants to kill his father? In addition, I think that my classmates picked good articles. Their articles was very interesting and it makes me want to read more than three articles. This article reading assignment really helps me know what is going on in the world today.

  56. The three articles that I read were about drug abuse, the 6 year old boy being molested, and the earthquake in Indonesia. In the article about drug abuse, I read that drugs are a social problem and that it is hard to strop abusing drugs. I also read that drug addiction change the functions of the brain. In the article about the 6 year old boy that was molested, I read that a convicted child molester and his parents molested the little boy. They also murdered him and put him in a trash bag and left him by the roadside. I also read that the District Attorney is seeking the death penalty for them. I think this is really sad that people can be so evil to harm an innocent child. Lastly, In the article about the earthquake in Indonesia, I read that 644 people were presumed dead and that this might raise the death toll to 1,300 if confirmed. I also read that after the earthquake many villages had only mud and broken palm trees left. I think it is sad how natural disasters take the lives of innocent people and destroy everything that people have and work for. To me this is a terrible disaster. For the most part, I think my classmates picked good articles because some touched me and others were very informing and had lots of information. My favorite article was about the 6 year old boy that was molested and murdered because this is sad, and the people who did ths to him are sick. To me this article touched me the most.

  57. I pick the article about dogfighting. I think dogfighting is bad because the dog is trying to kill each other. Dog have a feeling and life the dog could help protect if you train is right. Some people think dogfight is cool to watch , because they see the dog is hurting each other. But what if you was the dog that tryin to fight the other dog or tryin to kill the other dog. You goin get hurt alot. Also how the first amendent goin save dogfigthing i think they should banned dog figthing from the U.S and other country.

  58. In my opinion Kirninsha, Orachans and Jennys articles were the most signifanct. Orachanans talked about the very importan but sometimes over looked problem of presription drug addiction, Krinisha's spoke about an earthquake in Indonesha tha killed many people and that destroyed many lives and bulidings it left children with out mothers, and homes. They are in desporate need of help, and lastley Jenny's sopke about internet addiction i believe this problem is very true and this wasn't a problem years ago but it is now, i believe people need to try and find a solution to this problem eather within there own householed or gaining help of others.
